The winner of the ISE® North America Commercial Project Category Award was The Walt Disney Company for “Bag It and Tag It.” The winner in the Government Project Category was New York City Information Technology and Telecommunications (DoITT) for “Security Consolidation with McAfee Cloud Services.” Kaiser Permanente for “Operational Risk Management for Security Intelligence” won in the Health Care Project Category.

The ISE® North America People’s Choice Award winner represents the nominee who best exemplifies information security leadership as voted on by registered attendees. Last evening’s award was presented to was Lee Parrish, vice president and CSO, Parsons Corporation.

Presented on an annual basis at the ISE® North America Awards, the prestigious ISE® Luminary Leadership Award 2011 was awarded to Richard Jackson, general manager of global information risk management for Chevron Corporation. Jackson was recognized for his distinguished service, stewardship, and outstanding contributions in advancing the information security industry.

“The ISE® North America Awards program offers information security executives the ability to connect, collaborate and celebrate with their colleagues from a diverse range of industries on a national basis. It also enables them to join together in recognizing and awarding the leaders in their field,” said Marci McCarthy, CEO and president, T.E.N.

The scholarships will be available over the next three years.

The new $ 22,500 scholarship program was created as a higher education extension of StormStruck: A Tale of Two Homes®, a popular interactive severe weather experience at INNOVENTIONS at Epcot® at the Walt Disney World® Resort. StormStruck is sponsored by FLASH and four of its partners: RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd.; WeatherPredict Consulting Inc., an affiliate of RenaissanceRe; Simpson Strong-Tie® and State Farm®.

One $ 1,500 annual scholarship will be awarded in each StormStruck sponsor’s name. All five scholarships are available to master and doctorate-degree students and are as follows:


    RenaissanceRe® Risk Management Scholarship – for students performing research on the identification, assessment or prioritization of risk as it relates to natural disaster liabilities.

    Simpson Strong-Tie® Structural Engineering & Construction Scholarship – for students performing research on resilient construction materials or techniques.

    State Farm® Financial Services Scholarship – for students performing research on financial analysis, investment management or corporate finance as they relate mitigating the effects of, responding to or recovery from natural disasters.

    WeatherPredict Consulting Inc. Meteorology Scholarship – for students performing research on meteorology or meteorological risk modeling as it relates to natural disasters.

    FLASH Social Science Scholarship – for students performing research on behavior change, societal effects or other social aspects as they relate to natural disaster mitigation or preparation.

“With these scholarships, FLASH and its partners are taking the study of mitigation to higher education for the first time ever,” said Leslie Chapman-Henderson, President and CEO of FLASH. “We’re creating an educational link between traditional disciplines that support mitigation – like meteorology, insurance, construction and engineering — as a field of study and practice.”

This year’s application process opens Dec. 1, 2011 and closes Feb. 15, 2012. Scholarship awardees will be notified in March regarding their selection as 2012/2013 recipients. Winners will be recognized at the 2012 FLASH Annual Meeting in October at Lake Buena Vista, FL at which they will be required to present their research findings as posters. Nominations for each award were received from ADS members and then were voted on by members via a blind taste test for the dressings and sauce awards, and by visual presentation for the package award, at the ADS Technical Meeting in Tampa, Florida. ADS members voted for the dressing sand sauce deemed to have the best overall taste and the package deemed to have the best presentation.

Her promotional look has also shed her previous squeaky-tween trappings and donned more risqué garbs.

Though it’s anyone’s guess whether Demi Lovato’s mercurial journey will overshadow her potential niche carving in the mainstream musical genres, the speculation regarding the pricing of her current musical excursion has certainly been borne out in sharp relief. Secondary ticket selling site Ticketmayor.com is expecting the prices and sales figures of tickets of Demi’s upcoming shows to undergo a substantial boost. Anastasia Lyman, a representative of the site, explained that, “As soon as Demi Lovato released her album Unbroken on 20th September, the demand for Demi Lovato tickets of her upcoming concert appearances has sharply arisen.” Anastasia also revealed that Twitter.com monitoring site TweetStats.com reported meteoric jump in the online buzz regarding Demi Lovato tour tickets.
